For this inaugural blog post, I wanted to introduce you to one of my art influences:  Mark Rothko. Since it is his birthday today, I only thought it fitting to have him be the subject of my first blog post. I hope you enjoy!

If the world of modern abstract art were a stage, Mark Rothko would undoubtedly be the headliner. With his bold use of color and distinctive style, Rothko brought a unique sense of exquisite mystery to the abstract genre that left audiences both puzzled and enthralled. Let's take a colorful journey through Rothko's contributions to the world of modern abstract art and contemporary paintings.

Rothko was known for his knack for choosing colors that made viewers scratch their chins and ponder. His paintings often consisted of just a few rectangular blocks of color, a simple choice that would make him and his work iconic. To close, I’ll keep things brief. As Rothko said “Silence is so accurate”. My appreciation of color theory is greatly improved because of his contribution and though I fancy myself a pretty adept mixologist, I bow to the colorful master of abstract art Mark Rothko. Happy Birthday!
